I am seriously needing to lose weight and have recently begun to do "Eat to Live." But, I'm wanting to exercise too...I am soooo out of shape!
Anyhow, I love to be outside and have heard so many good things about running that I'd like to give it a try. Any suggestions for how to get started for someone who has been rather...um...sedentary
in the recent past?
Blessings.

I think the most important thing is to just put your shoes on and head out the door. Try to find a consistent time of day that works for you and set small goals to accomplish each day/week/month. When I first started my goals were simply to run 5x a week. Then I added time goals for how much I wanted to run in my week.

The couch to 5k is good, but remember repeating a week is fine and actually a good idea. I found when I first started out that I couldn't go as fast as the program and so oftentimes repeated weeks. This was a little depressing and I was really hard on myself because of it. Don't be. Remember just getting out there is better than nothing!

see you running

Listen to your body, and heed it. If knees start to hurt, give them a rest so they have a chance to gain strength, and you can return to running sooner. Take it slowly and you might love to run! Couch to 5K is a great plan to use, and like BBM says, don't be afraid to slow it down.

Hey Mommas, thanks so much!! I got onto the coolrunning site and printed of the couch to 5K program and I am so excited! I do so much better with things when I have a PLAN. And, I'll remember to take it slow. Like I said, I've been rather sedentary for a while now, so it will probably take me a while to get up to speed.

Blessings!
