My MIL came to visit for Christmas. We have an uneasy relationship: cultural and language issues. Our Christmas tree is in a room that we don't have a lot of seating which got a tad annoying for gift opening this morning. Hubby offered his mom the relatively comfy computer chair. He brings a chair from the kitchen for himself. Then he set up two pillows so I can sit on the floor on one and lean back against the other. What the...? How did he think that having his 36 week pregnant wife sit on the floor is a good idea?

And sure enough, even though I warned him that he would need to help me up, I ended up with no help in that area.

Yesterday I joked that I couldn't believe he put me on the floor. His response was that he thought it'd be cute with our toddler and gift opening.

That's terrible!

I'm sure he meant no harm, but sometimes men need to be told explicitly what we think they ought to know just by being reasonably intelligent adult human beings...
