a toddler who doesn't drink milk??

So now that the babies are almost 2, I started introducing a little milk as a beverage into their diets. Else is ok with it, but Charlotte takes 1 sip and turns it away. Is that normal? Should I keep trying? Does it matter that they don't drink milk? They still nurse and eat other diary / calcium rich foods and veggies. Does anyone else's toddler not drink milk?

My now 11 year old does not drink milk. I kept trying (not sure why) until he was 3 or 4, he just doesn't like mucus from another species.

DD#1 just turned 2 the other day. I have never offered her milk and don't plan to. If she were to ask I would oblige but I'm not worried about it.

PS My 11 year old has never had a cold, diarrhea, ear infection, sinus, upper respritory or most other ailments and very rarely gets sick (tummy sick) - like every 3 years and has never been sick longer than 1.5 days - maybe he's on to something

My 18 mo. old breast fed son hates milk. My 15 mo. old formula fed foster daughter drinks it just fine. Every kid is different. No one NEEDS milk to survive, so as long as your DD is eating other foods don't worry too much about it! Cow's milk is overrated!
I don't think your child needs milk. I had the same question when my child turned one...but he was still BF. Is your child? I guess you would have try harder to find a good substitute for cow milk if you child is no longer BF.

Anyway, my child did not drink any milk...but then he started drinking a little in my cereal. Suddenly, he started to love milk. He's a HUGE dairy eater...yogurt, milk, cheese, ice-cream, etc.

Fortunately, now he's cutting back a little bit. Starting to ask for water at meals instead of milk all the time. I'm glad about that.
Milk is not necessary.

Calcium comes from lots of places. Including spinach, lambs quarters (the PLANT, you can probably find it in your garden now, it is an early summer wild herb -- ie: "weed" ) and meat/fish soups which used bones in the stock.

I've never given my little guy plain milk. Occasionally he gets kefir (a liquid yogurt).
With the exception of a very occasional organic chocolate milk, my son doesn't drink milk either. (He's 3 1/2-years-old.)

Up until a few months ago (when I started having problems with eczema), I would go through phases where I wanted to drink milk. I'd offer it to him sometimes and he had no interest whatsoever.

He does like oat milk in his cereal sometimes, though.

If your kids are getting human milk, they don't need cow milk. Humans aren't meant to drink cow milk. Cow milk is for little cows.
My son who is 10 drinks a little cows milk usually chocolate

My dd who nursed to almost 6 has never drank cows milk and is now 7 1/2 years.
no cowsmilk drinking here! my ds drinks breastmilk only. he also likes almond milk.

What she said!

My 27 month old breastfed ds doesnt drink cow's milk, or soy milk, or almond milk, or rice milk or any kind of "milk" But gets plenty of Mama milk!!!!
He asked for a cup of cow's milk a couple of times and I gave it to him. He took one sip, and asked for water!!! Actually, water is the only liquid he will drink besides bm.

oh, I forgot, he has cereal with cow's milk for breakfast sometimes so he does get a little cow's milk!

My oldest has never liked cows milk, he still doesn't drink it never has and he is eight, my five year old likes milk as a beverage, they both have it in cereal and other cooked foods. My 11 month old has never had anything to drink besides water and bm.
I don't think milk is necessary, and dairy can cause a lot of allergies, so maybe be grateful your dc doesn't like milk, and find calcium in other places.
My EBF son can't drink cow's, goat's, sheep's, soy OR almond milk, so I asked the MDC experts if I needed to find another white drink for him (rice milk is about all that's left!). They said EBFers *definitely* do NOT need another source of milk, and that evolutionarily speaking, all of us are intended to be weaned completely -- from all milks -- once we wean from BF. So I agree that cow's milk is for baby cows, etc. I'm not even sure I buy all the calcium hype, anyway . . . appears to be mainly propogated by the dairy industry! (but we do drink calcium-fortified juices, just in case!)

My 2 year old doesn't drink it either, but she'll eat a little cheese, and other high-calcium foods, so I don't worry at all!
