I've never pumped but I have asked dh for help in a crisis! If he does nurse point his chin toward the plug.
Otherwise manually expressing in the shower, cold packs to lessen any build up of lymph or blood and then warm packs and manual expression can work great, leaning over (like on all fours)can get any pressure off that spot while you try to manually express.
I would have a hard time stopping too, I guess if my boys had weaned that early I would have pumped and given it to them (I know big talk from someone who has never pumped and whose nurslings are 2 1/2 and 4 years old).
The way I have encouraged my boys to nurse is by staying in bed. Bringing several things they would like to play with in the bedroom and shutting the door, then lying in bed shirtless and nursing.
No matter what happens you have done a great job. I hope your breast feels better.
