I am posting this here because this is my group that I feel comfortable talking to. Mods please don't move it.<br><br>
I had some bloodwork done before switching to lithium for my bipolar. They were ordered by a psychiatrist I saw and a copy was sent to the walk-in clinic we go to (there are no family doctors available in my area). I have had blood work done before (probably a year ago) and both kids have had blood work done and they have never called. I just got a call from the walk-in clinic and they said they received my bloodwork results and they want me to come in as soon as possible. I am supposed to come in first thing tomorrow. I am so freaking out! They tested iron levels, thyroid levels, fasting blood sugar levels, red blood cell count, white blood cell count, something to do with the liver and some other stuff.

I'll tell you what I've learned to do in that situation. I call back, ask to speak with a nurse, and tell her that I find it too stressful to wait to know and would like just a general idea of why the doctor is requesting an appt. I've never had a nurse refuse to tell me. I suppose they could; but still it is worth a try I think. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/hug.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="hug"> I hope it is something minor.

I know they won't give me any info because of the way they work. It is a walk-in clinic with different doctors working at different times. I have tried to ask the nurses things before and they will not give any information. One time I asked them a question and they laughed at me! I really don't like the nurses there. I am sitting here imagining all sorts of horrible things. Hopefully its just anemia but would they call me in to the clinic just for anemia? I've had problems with anemia before but not for awhile. I have PCOS and insulin resistance so its a very real possibility it could be diabetes. That would be so horrible! Besides all the health risks I would barely be able to eat. I can barely eat now because of serious stomach problems. Arrrggh! I am driving myself insane!

i HATE HATE HATE when offices do that. Come in right away, (as in right away for US) so that we can tell you something minor that you will have freaked out about all night long, sweating out the calories from all of the bad-for-you food you were forced to consume in a vain attempt to make yourself feel better, and avoid looking at the clock while you W-A-I-T for the appointment.<br><br>
I'm praying for you that it's no big deal.<br><br>
you could also always play Tom Petty's "Waiting is the Hardest Part" (not really the name of the song, but you know what I'm talking about) over and over and over again when you get into the waiting room.....
