I am also posting this on the Nutrition board, BTW.
I am BF my 4 month old DS. I have been taking 1 tsp of cod liver oil every other day for the DHA/EPA and vit. D for DS. I'm also taking a multivitamin. Is taking the CLO every other day even worth it? I am concerned about having too much vit. A due to the multi + the CLO, which is why I've been taking the CLO every 2 days... but is this even enough to benefit DS? Do I need to worry this much about the vit. A? DS's ped suggested that he take a multivitamin to make sure he's getting enough vit. D (not b/c of any known deficiency, BTW, just "standard" advice) so I figured the CLO could be another way for him to get it. I also make sure he gets a little sunlight every day.
Could I/should I give the CLO to DS directly (don't think THAT would go over very well, LOL!!)?
I am also taking flax daily.
Thanks~

A lot of people do give the babies CLO directly, but I can't seem to figure out how!
My dd gagged on the orange kind, and honestly, it doesn't taste bad at all. I think it was the oiliness (probably not a word, but you know what I mean) Personally, I don't give my dd any vitamins, and I wouldn't at this point- except the CLO if I could figure that out. I don't think she needs it. I know a lot of pedis suggest it though. I figure that bf gives her what she needs. Now that she's eating some solids, I try to pick very healthful, quality foods to give her.

As long as you don't live in a northern latitude with little sun or cover yourself and your child from top to toe when you go out, and if your skin is not extremely dark, a little sunlight every day will preclude the need for supplemental Vitamin D.

I used to take CLO but switched to fish oil for the summer because it IS possible to get too much Vitamin D, and I'm in the sun quite a bit. I'll take CLO again in the "winter" (in quotes because I live in San Diego - there's really no winter here
).

Yeah chelsmm, HOW you get DC to take CLO is a whole other issue
I have the orange kind, too, and it's not bad.
Nora'sMama, that's an interesting idea, to take reg. fish oil in the summer and CLO in the winter... I live in Los Angeles, so we're def. not hurting for sunshine here. What kind of fish oil do you like? Right now I'm using Nordic Naturals CLO.
