The last few days my DD's diapers have smelled very strong with amonia. I've also noticed that I can see yellow where she pees. Does this mean that she's dehydrated?????? It's been very very hot here, and I hate to say that I'm feeling like a pretty rotten mama if my baby girl is dehydrated

I thought BF babies were okay with boobs alone (although she does get a sippy cup throughout the day).. but maybe several days in the 90s she needs way more???

Would dehydration cause the diapers to smell so strongly of amonia??

This rotten mama is going to go

I think the color is more of an indicator, and would probably keep an eye on it for a day or two. I know that ds is not dehydrated - he drinks water all day long (he is 3yo). But after awhile his hemp diapers will smell strongly of ammonia - eye burning strong. But his pee is also pretty clear.

Either way you're not a rotten momma!

I'd say go ahead and up her sippy cup H20 intake. If she's not interested maybe even spice it up with a touch of juice.

I think we just aren't used to this heat so we forget the we need to adjust our fluid intake accordingly (you too mama, OK me too also). Your dd's probaby getting plenty of milk and fluids but is sweating it out instead of peeing it out.
