I've heard many times that there are no silly questions so here goes..... I just received my prefolds today and it says to wash and dry them at least 5 times before use - no problem since baby won't be born for 2 months - but anyway.... I was wondering, do they need to be dried in the dryer or can I line dry them during these initial washes? I didn't know if the dryer worked some sort of magic with the first washes.

Thanks for your help!

Sherri, you'll want to dry them between washes in the preparatory phase because it is going to fluff up your fibers and give you the quilted absorbency you want.

Many choose to line dry afterwards, but know that to have them quilted and fluffy, you either need ideal 'balmy' weather with a slight breeze for slow, breezy drying time on the line, or you'll want to pull them off the line when barely damp and finish them up in the dryer for 5 to 10 minutes for fluffy softness.

That answers my question then, thank you. Since it is still hot, dry and not much of a breeze it sounds like it would be better for me to put them in the dryer. Thank you for your help, I'm off to do the laundry!
