I need some help from you ladies. I have now had my iron checked twice for anemia, and both times it came back in the normal range so I am now trying to look for other reasons for this extreme exhaustion. (Hasn't let up at all since a few weeks into the first trimester.) My diet wasn't great from the beginning, because of pretty horrible morning sickness. (Too many carbs). I guess I'd just like a some sort of diet or some set of guidelines/checklist to try to improve my energy. I am taking New Chapter prenatals (and admittedly only remember to take about 2 out of the 3 per day
).
I don't have any dietary restrictions, exept for the recent phenomenon that I've noticed- diarreaha after I consume non-organic dairy!

I looked at some info the Brewer Diet and OMG the amount of food that is
...um I just can't do it. So does anyone have any links or any reading for me? My pregnancy with my daughter was so different than this, and I can't say that I ate any differently than I am noww- but maybe my needs are different now.

I have to say, I'm also due in July and I've been waay tired nearly from the beginning. Actually just today and yesterday I've had some energy, but mostly I'm exhausted (especially around 10am and 4pm, then I usually fall asleep when I put my kids to bed @7pm).

It may be your diet, but it also may be the difference between being pg with no kids, and being pg with kids. It is dramatic how much less rest you are able to get.
Also my pg have each been different depending on whether I'm carrying a boy or a girl. That might just be me, but I even have to eat different foods.

If you want to look at your diet, a place to start is to cut out the carbs--especially empty ones, the white ones. And up your protein, you don't have to go for the total Brewer, but increasing your protein is never a bad thing (and good fats like coconut oil, butter, nuts).

Sometimes pregnancy just wipes you out. I mean, definitely try to eat lots of protien, whole grains, veggies and fruit. It won't hurt to get your thyroid checked either. But especially when it's not your first pregnancy and you can't rest whenever you want, it can make you really REALLY tired.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Do you know- those that have thyroid issues in pregnacy, can they come on later on in the pregnancy? I do know I had my thyroid checked in the 1st trimester and they said it was fine then. I go see my OB on weds, so perhaps I should have them check it again....

I don't know anything about that, but I do know that pregnancy can do weird things to your body. It's just a simple blood test, so I can't see a reason why not to get it.
