approximately as nutritious AND digestible as human milk!!!
:

: (all book quotes in italics)

I was reading this book someone gave me(Caring for your baby and young child) by the AAP....its horrible. But wait, thats not all! Did you know formula is completley safe and healthy for you baby!
:

This book is soo negative towards breastfeeding. The section on bf'ing constantly reminds the reader that if at any time they have a problem with nursing that "its okay to switch to the bottle...bottle is approximately as nutritious.

Then, the chapter c-sec deliveries was actually scary to read:
After your baby is born she will be taken to the nursery to spend SEVERAL hours in a temperature-controlled crib (what is this a science experiment?) This is all so the nursery staff can monitor your child and as she adjust to her new surroundings!!!!!
I had a c-sec (after 5hrs of pushing..he was too big, got stuck in pelvis

: ) and let me tell you it horrible....but my child was in his fathers arms the entire 45 min i was the recovery room not in some science expirement!

UGH! Sorry i had to tell someone how horrible this book is!

It's a free book just go to their site and they'll sent it to you.
I actually got a pregnancy book by the mayo Clinic from them during my pregnancy. I was expecting some lame cheap paperback but was plesantly surprised to get a huge hardcover encyclopedia sized book.It was alot better than the "what to expect book" LOL

Oh after i got the Peds book last week and read some of it I got frustrated and haven't picked it back up.
It would make a good bathroom read though.

Yeah, it appears to solve the running out of TP problem.

I got this book free too. I haven't looked at it in ages, so I don't remember this. I'll have to reread it and highlight all the stupid stuff and make my own notes before I give it to Goodwill.

In my opinion, don't pass them along, just as you wouldn't the Ezzo book, etc. Trash them so another woman who isn't as informed as you doesn't get these ridiculous ideas in her head and believe them and pass it along to someone else - help stop the vicious cycle, right!?!?

MDC is showing me the light , I love the way people here think and feel the same about alot of the things. I am going to be the one who is different in both of our fams(DH and mine)

I have it too. It's kind of useful but not much. It's mostly advocating main stream things, like seperate beds and so on. I don't agree with a lot of what the mainstream society thinks is best, so therefore the book isn't that helpful. We need more attachment parenting books. Instead of learning what not to put in my baby's crib, teach me how to safely co-sleep! And formula not as digestible? That is BS. If it was as nutritious and as digestible, breast wouldn't be best. If things besides BM were so digestible, we wouldn't need to delay solids. How do you explain the deaths associated with formula? The recalls? The fact that more FF babies get more sick than BF babies? Sheesh.

What I hate is that it doesn't even say "almost" (which is what a lot of moms seem to think) it says "approximately" meaning more or less.... as in there's a possibility it might be slightly better than breastmilk.

Double check the cover of the book. I bet it says something like "Courtesy of Similac or Enfamil." I have seen a version that says exactly that. Oh and it was paperback.
