Accupunture Anyone?

I have done a search on this forum for accupuncture, and I found some for inducing labor or for migraines or bad hips.

I have bursitis in my left shoulder. I have had it for nearly six months.

...I had a flareup of tendonitis a year ago and the chiropractic treatments helped greatly, but this time, the chiropractic treatments are not helping, so I have been referred for accupuncture..

Can someone help me and tell me how long this could take and what I should expect?
:

I was also given some Chinese herbs to drink warm tea 3x a day after a meal.

:puke

Not trying to be disrespectful, but just wanting some information and expressing a personal reaction.

I have had a long journey with natural medicine and Chinese Medicine has become to place I trust most. With acupuncture my labour was assisted, my chronic mastitis cleared (in addition to using herbs), I dealt with hemorrhoids and hip pain, post-birth sadness, etc etc.

I have so much faith in the practise I am looking for a way to study it. As long as you trust your practioner - I say go for it.

For me I have noticed improvements as soon as 2-3 tx....long term improvement was noticed after about 3 months of twice a week tx...

I had severe Pelvic Floor Dysfunction and other bladder problems. I was finally diagnosed with PFD and cured with physical therapy. However, long before that, I saw an acupuncturist and the whole time I went to him after about the 3-4th treatment until about 1 year after stopping, I was about 3/4 better compared to being in pain ALL the time and feeling like I had to pee ALL the time. (I initially thought I had intersticial cystitis.)

I was SOOOO greatful for my acupuncturist - I was really sad that I had to move away from him although in some ways it was better because since I began to get sick again about a year later, I eventually sought PT which has really cured me.
I have been given Chinese herbal tea
: 3x a day warm after meals.

and I have had two treatments already. I notice alittle improvement. I am still very stiff and sore. No redness or swelling, but my left shoulder is very stiff.

I thought only old ladies got bursitis or tendonitis!

But then I am no youngster...

I am glad to hear it's working for you! I swear by chinese acupuncture, and I don't think the herbal tea is half bad!

i love acupuncture.

i find that for me it works best if i go a few times in a row, then once a week or so.

glad it's helping
how much do treatments usually cost? Can it help at all w/ fighting the yeast/candida monster? I have a "Friend of a friend" who is certified, and just wondering if I should persue it for this reason... I go to the chiro all the time for my headaches.

It really varies. In Milwaukee, I pay $70 for 30 minutes. In SW Connecticut, I pay $70 for an hour. FWIW, I am much happier with my acupuncturist in CT. She does this out of her home though. In Milwaukee I go to an office building. I used to see a Medical Acupuncturist (which I don't recommend) and they charged $75 for 20 minutes AND charged and "office visit" that was $80-$100. That was terrible, IMO.

Acupuncture would be GREAT for headaches! I suggest calling an few different acupuncturists and talking with them before making your decison. For me, it's a very personal thing and we have to mesh well, or the treatments just don't do as well for me as they could. Not all styles work for all people. I hope I am not confusing you more.

In Los Angeles, I paid a wonderful Korean acupuncturist $250.00 for four treatments, an hour each. She is a lone-proprietor. She does the treatments in sets of four. I have had three sets, that is, twelve treatments. I even saw an advertisement for this acupuncturist with a discount coupon!! Lots of competition here.

The Chinese herbs were extra. :puke

I pay $60 for a 45 min session and my insurance covers $25 of that.
O.K., now I am using "Blue Emu" ointment for my poor left shoulder that has bursitis.

I have been taking lots of vitamins, minerals, herbs, and vinegar water with that Chinese Tea Torture.

I am not in that much pain, but I am staying ahead of it.
