Okay, I wasn't really worried about my weight gain until today. I started out a little underweight, so I knew I had to pack it on. I lost alot while bf last time so I know I need it. Anyway, I gained about 40 lbs with Finn and lost it all plus 15 lbs. This time I've already put on about 47lbs and I still have six weeks to go!! Someone reassure me that this is alright...
Anyone else gaining quite a bit??

This is me yesterday (sorry about the partial nudity!)

I wouldn't worry too much! I put on 9 lbs in 3 weeks in my 7th month and then when I went back last week I had lost weight. They told me that you can yo yo on weight gain. To be honest with you mama you still look really small and as long as you don't put on that much weight every two weeks I wouldn't personally worry about it. I got really freaked out when I put on that 9 lbs in three weeks and then was so careful after that I lost weight which had my doctor more concerned. I was normal weight for my height before I got pregnant if that helps any. I know being underweight you are supposed to put on a little more

Aww, thanks! You know, people think they can say anything to a pg woman about her weight. When I was at work I was worried I was too small because everyone kept saying how small I looked and then today at the mw's, she was pretty shocked about the weight gain at first and I almost thought she was going to scold me! Anyway, you can't win for losing, ya know? And I am still measuring a little small (normal for me though), so I have to wonder where the pounds are going!

You look great, I wouldn't worry a bit!! You look very healthy!

ETA: I have gained steadily. I didn't gain any at the last appointment though thanks to some really bad Thai food that drained my system...aghhhh! I made it up though...I ate an entire large bag of M & M's over 2 days

I am only 33 weeks and have already gained more than you, so I wouldn't feel bad. I was pretty underweight before I started and am happy to have the extra pounds though. As long as you are eating a healthy diet and not lots of junk food, I wouldn't worry about it.
Your belly is beautiful!!!! If it makes you feel any better, I gained 8 lbs. in ONE week when I was pregnant with my son

That does make me feel better actually!

Seriously, you look beautiful. If you know that you'll need the extra weight not just to get through pregnancy but also BF, what's the worry? It certainly *looks* like it's "all baby"!

My diet is generally healthy, but I must say I have been eating my share of ice cream lately...
. And Ive been having unfortunate cravings for hotdogs!

I wouldn't worry either (although I know that is easier said than done). Some of us tend to gain more than others for some reason. It matters much more what you are putting in your body and an occasional bowl of ice cream isn't horrible.
ok, I just looked at the pics, you are still tiny, tiny. My belly is about 2x that size!
yea...my belly is def much bigger too!
don't worry at all...if you were underweight to start it's healthy to gain as much weight as you are gaining. just focus on growing a healthy baby. you look great!

I love your pictures! Isn't it amazing how the body can change!
I agree with everyone else- you look great. I however, can relate with the wt gain. I have packed on about 40lbs. I gained around 85lbs with dd and lost all of it but 10 lbs.

Here is a pick of me pre-preggo

No worries mamas, we all look beautiful. People love preggy ladies!

My midwife told me to expect about 40lbs and I thought that she was crazy. Last visit 2 weeks ago I gained 5lbs, putting me at the 30lb mark. My next visit is tomorrow and I am sure that I packed on a few more. Nobody believes me that I have gained that much and with 5 weeks to go, who knows where I'll end up. I don't know where it is going, but if people keep telling me how thin I still am, I might like this weight gaining thing!

I doubt that they say such things once we have the babies, so we better live it up now.

I did the same thing a few weeks ago...gained 6 pounds in 6 days, I couldn't even begin to figure out how that could even happen considering my appatite is actually waning. some of it must have been water or winter clothing though because at my next visit I had dropped to of the 6 lbs.

And I must say you look GREAT!
Thanks ladies! I must say, this thread has been great for my self-esteem
: .
I really hadn't been concerned at all...it was just the way my mw reacted that got me a little worked up. I think I may stop getting on the scale altogether so that I don't worry about numbers.

I think you look great too

I'm 33wks and have gained almost 45lbs (and I was not underweight to start - if anything about 10lbs overwieght)

It is frusterating how the MW reacts though - I gained 4.5lbs in two weeks (when she had said at my last visit to gain 2lbs or less every 2wks) What can be done!?

Anyway, if you lost it with your first certainly you can do so again...

I think you look fabulous too! I've put on probably 25 lbs but think I look like I've put on a lot more. My belly looks (and feels) gigantic!
