Sorry if this is the wrong spot to post...

My 15 mo has had some acne spots on his chin for several weeks. They are large and red, but don't erupt. I thought maybe it was caused by drool, but he just got in all his molars so I don't see how he can be teething again. Any clue as to what this may be? Is it maybe herpes simplex?

Is it just on his chin? HSV 1 usually appears a lot closer to the mouth, more like on or very close to the lips and in the mouth. It usually won't last longer than a few days, either, and first outbreak is often accompanied by pain and fever.

Gosh, now he's got a bad fever. I'm wondering if it's fifth disease. He's very flushed.
