Does anybody else have an acrobatic nurse? You know the kind that latch on and then put their butt all up in the air while nursing. Or the one that that puts their butt all up in the air and kicks their legs plays with their toes and does everything short of a somersault all while still nursing. I'm not the only one right?

Bizarre! I just posted the same question in the forum above.
YES! Child #2 is a crazy nurser at night. Fun, ain't it?

Mine does it too. Also don't forget that he wants to twiddle the other nipple with his free hand while he is trying to stick his toes up your nose with his other hand. I don't even bother nursing in public anymore.
I talked to another (more experienced mom) about this the other day and she said her baby knew how to nurse because she can't accommodate the other stuff in a house full of older boys so her nursing needs to be discreet at home and away from home.
So maybe we are just kidding ourselves and our kids could be quiter nursers as well? I'll let you know if I figure it out. Until then I'll just keep my nose clean just in case...

The funny thing w/my dd is that she never does it in public. She doesn't nurse a lot in public though I guess(too busy being "curious") unless of course we've been out for hours and she gets tired. I just wanted to make sure this was"normal" because dd1 never behaved as such.

Yes, yes and yes. The other day DH was watching us nurse and asked "Does that hurt?!" Nope. I think that DD nurses like that sometimes when she is tired and fighting relaxation! When she's rested she usually asks me to read her books and she looks at the pics while she nurses.

Yeah, mine doesn't do the full-out acrobatics in public either, however the 'sightseeing' doesn't make it much better. I don't want him to lift my shirt, make sure both are still there, pop off and look around, etc. so if he needs to nurse while we are put it's easiest to do it in the car where there are no distractions.

18mo. ds is all over the place nursing! sometimes it's hillarious, other times downright annoying, especially when I am having to dodge a little foot to my head, while his free hand is twisting whatever flesh he can get ahold of.

ABIMOMMY posted this on my similar thread...
(worth considering that's for sure) - I hope it is o.k. to move it to this thread

I wouldn't permit acrobatics or twiddling while nursing. My boob is neither a toy nor is it made from silly putty.

Maybe try the backrubs, singing, reading before nursing or even a relaxing bath. They have a harder time sleeping if they are all wound up.

Pulling wasn't allowed either, she did try it but whenever she pulled the nursing stopped and she quit doing it.

My poor dd My sister is a LLL Leader and she gave me lots of advice when I had dd, she never got away with hardly any nursing antics.

I put up with the gymnastics (i.e., downward dog, 'around the world'), but absolutely do not allow any nipple twiddling. If she insists, I unlatch her. I admit I'm a little inconsistent about general boob pinching...if her nails are long I don't put up with it, but otherwise I will.

Reading the pp's makes me think I should start getting a bit more serious about setting some clearer boundaries, in hopes that it'll head off further antics later on. I remember my mom saying she weaned my sister at 2 because she got tired of having her shirt pulled up in public all the time, so I know it can get pretty aggravating. Maybe it's time to find an LLL meeting nearby!

Yup.....dd is 19 months old and she is an acrobatic monkey, butt in the air, all that jazz. The best is when we are out somewhere and she wants to kind of hang off my breast with her feet pointing down.....a little bizzare I must say.....I never see anyone nursing in public here, so I never see any nursing acrobatics.....makes me feel much better, at least I am not alone.

He's always trying to put his leg around my neck or his foot in my mouth or something. Sometimes I make it a game and tease him...this often gets him to stop for a moment and settle down. The other fun thing is when he tries to crawl off my lap with my nipple still firmly in his mouth! Ack!

Oh yeah. Ditto. This is my life. For a half-hour to an hour at naptime and bedtime. Everytime. But never during wakeful nursings...although I think this may be why he only nurses for 1-2 minutes at a time. He may take himself off when he feels the urge to start relaxing and pulling his stunts. But yeah, nothing is unheard of here. Blows raspberries and cracks himself up while at it, too.

I do. Ds has sooo many interesting positions. I have video taped them all. I should post a few pics. His latest is what I call the Jack Palance. He plyometrically nurses. We start out left side side lying and ds gets up on both hands and switches to the right in mid air. Then he stays there for a few minutes then tries to kneel then stand!! All with my nipple in his mouth and on the bed.
