My Grandma has just given me a ton of cookery magazines. There are loads of nice sounding recipes in them but most of them are meat based. There was a chicken and vegetable stir fry for example, the sauce sounded really nice, but what would you replace the chicken with? More veg? The chicken was providing the protein part of the meal, so I'd prefer to replace it with some some other protein food. Tofu is out because I can't stand the texture and I just don't like the taste. I don't want to rely on too much processed sort of foods anyway.

I find it easy enough with things like shepherds pie or lasagna because you can just replace the ground beef with lentils and/or beans. Do you think it would be ok to throw some cooked beans into a stir fry?

Or maybe I should just stop trying to re-create meat based meals?

I was hoping to *try* and be more organised I was going to type up a bunch of recipes that we used often, or that I wanted to try, and even go as far as creating shopping lists for them.

How about shelled edamame? That would still give it a great Asian flair.

either tofu or edamame, for stir fry, though you could make up some veggie patty and cut it up for the same purpose.

you could also use limas, I suppose (the baby white aren't terribly icky).
