I am seeking advice on areas to live in that are in easy commute of East Vancouver. We are limited as we would like to buy not rent, but our max is $500K. We have three small children and I have an interest in gardening, permaculture, bee keeping, having chickens - so fairly outdoorsy, in contrast to my DH job which is city based.

DO we have any options to balance my needs and wants, with my DHs need to be close to work?
