I'm a new mom to a 6 month old. I've never been around anyone who practiced GD so I have no clue how to start.<br><br>
What is a good first book to read? I read the book review thread but my head is spinning - so many options! I'd like to read a nice overview with some techniques then be able to go onto other books as needed for specific concerns as he grows.<br><br>
I'm also very interested in reading one that includes what is appropriate at what age since I have no clue.<br><br>
Thanks in advance ladies!

I highly recommend <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325&tag=motheringhud-20&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FNatural-Child-Parenting-Heart%2Fdp%2F0865714401%2Fsr%3D8-1%2Fqid%3D1170258519%2Fref%3Dsr_1_1%2F002-9925520-6696835%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dbooks" target="_blank">The Natural Child - Parenting From the Heart by Jan Hunt</a>. It's an excellent, shorter book that will give you a good overview in my opinion. Also good is <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325&tag=motheringhud-20&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FADVENTURES-GENTLE-DISCIPLINE-Parent-Parent%2Fdp%2F0976896907" target="_blank">Adventures in Gentle Discipline by Hilary Flowers</a>. It is a parent to parent book, so there are many examples from actual parents explaining what has worked for them throughout the book.<br><br>
You can also check out <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325&tag=motheringhud-20&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FADVENTURES-GENTLE-DISCIPLINE-Parent-Parent%2Fdp%2F0976896907" target="_blank">The Natural Child</a> web site on line. They have compiled a huge amount of resources and articles from many different authors. I've found it very helpful.
