<span>Does anyone have good advice for how to curb a 10-month-old's squealing at the top of his lungs? He will start this high-pitched squeal- running around the house and he'll just keep doing it for 10 or 15 minutes at a time. I know he's having fun, testing out his lungs and all, and it's kind of cute, except that it triggers major headaches. I've tried everything I can think of to make him stop- I tried being really quiet, giving him attention only when he isn't squealing, yelling back at him, telling him "no" in every different voice I can think of. I just don't know what else to try. He's really too young for much else that I can think of. I was just hoping that some of you seasoned mammas would have some great magic trick to share. TIA.</span>

Have you got a safe place where you can put him when he does this so you can walk out of the room to save your sanity?<br><br>
Have you tried standing on the doorstep with him -- go onestep out side and YELL in a LOUD VOICE, then go inside and whisper. then out and YELL "OUTSIDE VOICE" then inside and say calmly "inside voice". 10 mos is a bit young for this to work, but it might. If not, your neighbors will just be convinced you're nuts!<br><br>
What happens if you sing while he's doing this? Put on music?<br><br>

When DS does this, I usually put my hand gently over his mouth and look him in the eye and say quietly indoor voice please. It usually takes repeating a lot.<br><br>
We also will put our finger on his lips and move it up and down so it makes a funny sound. This usually works for volume control because DS gets so enthralled with the different sounds. He's even taken to doing it to himself!
