A recent thread has brought it to my attention that I'm one of the few women due in August who hasn't bought a single nappy for the new babe.<br>
I think I've figured out why.<br>
I only started CDing my lovely 2 1/2 year old recently. We've gone completely with Fuzzi Bunz for convenience sake. I know how to work with his heavy wetting (except for at night) and I can just wash and dry everything the same way.<br>
I was planning on going all FB with the new babe...but then I started wobbling. She'll be wearing floofy dresses so it would be cute to see a lovely nappy peeking out. But that's not the biggest reason.<br>
There are so many different kinds out there that I'd like to try them out. There are great prints, great designs, so many options. Even taking into consideration that I'd only ever want to use AIO, pockets or fitteds (and never wool), there are a tonne of wonderful ones to try. But I don't want to deal with the frustration of new nappy systems when I'm coping with a newborn and a toddler. So it leads me back to all FB.<br><br>
I need to start getting my stash in, though. We can't afford to go on a buying binge a couple weeks before the baby is due. Particularly as the last one was 2 weeks early. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1"><br><br>

I think fuzzi bunz are cute. Pastel colors would look nice under those dresses just as much as a cute print would.

and you can always pick up lots of cute wahm prints and other stuff in mediums and larges, when baby is a little older, you'll get more use out of them, and you feel a little more together to be be able to decide what you want to try! my dd is still in larges after being in them for over a year! go with the easy fb for the newborn time <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1">

You could always pick out one pretty neutral cover and use it over the fb for a change.

Try a couple of different things cheap off the TP and see if there are other things you will like. There is a lot out there and a lot of stuff more fun (IMO) than just FBs -- especailly for a newborn. There are SO many tiny cute newborn dipes. Oh and a ton of one sized dipes so you wont have to keep buying up in sizes when she gets bigger -- they will grow with her. Like Wonderoos (also a pocket dipe like FB and comes in tons of cute pastel colors too), SOS, Mother-ease one size, and bunch of others.<br><br>

Isn't there someone who embroiders fuzzi bunz? And are they coming out with prints soon? That way you could still have everything the same, but have a couple "extra special" ones to poke out from under dresses, etc. I love plain colored dipes especially some of the pretty PUL colors out there these days. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbs up">

I'm with everyone else. Stick with the FBs for smalls, experiment if you feel like it with mediums. Heck, I've been with FBs for smalls and mediums and am just now experimenting with other things with larges. I keep finding, over and over again, that the other diapers may be cute, but they just don't tend to work as well for us as the FBs.

If I were you, I'd stick with the Fuzzibunz. The Happy Heinys prints are cute but wick urine, like anything else with a cotton outer. We've tried *everything*, and Fuzzibunz are the most leak-proof thing we've found. The only problem is the small Fuzzibunz are huge on a newborn, IMO. DS was 8lb at birth, and the small FB didn't fit him well until about 1 mo old. They would have come up way over the cord. Before the cord falls off, you might be better off with preemie/infant prefolds & a newborn cover, or a newborn fitted like Kissaluvs Os with newborn wrap cover (like Proraps or Litewraps) or pull-up cover (Dappi pull-ups are what we used).

Well, HHs aren't <i>just</i> like FBs. The cut is slightly different, which some people like, some people don't. The aplix can pill up the fleece and other materials in the wash, and the HH prints use a woven material rather than a knit. Some people have complained that the prints wick and/or sweat.<br><br>
Also, the ebay value of HHs is just not as great as it is with FBs. FBs are just a more popular brand name at this point.

I agree with the posters who said go for the FB pastels. If I were going to have a nb and toddler, I would want to go for the tried and true for those first few weeks of utter chaos. We have a really cute plain cotton cover (decorative, not a functional diaper cover) with ruffles on the tush that we use under dresses a lot. Then it doesn't matter if we don't have a cute diaper to show off - the ruffles get all the attention. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"><br><br>
Then when the madness of a nb and toddler dies down (LOL - if ever, right?) then you might be more willing to hit the TP etc... and try new, cuter things.
