So, for some background, I have a condition called Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy, or ICP, which is basically a malfunction of the liver and gallbladder during pregnancy. It causes uncontrollable itching in the mom and a really high risk of stillbirth for the baby after 37 weeks. I live in the caribbean and am planning to go up to MA for my birth. I've been waiting several weeks to hear back from the midwives up there with a plan. They midwives at he birth center were finally able to meet with their back-up ob's last night to discuss my case and we finally have a game plan. I arrive in MA at 35 weeks and start twice weekly NST's, and then I'll be induced at 37 weeks, on or around April 4. I never thought I would be so pleased to be scheduling an early induction because I want a natural birth so badly, but this has eased my fears so much. When given a choice between a natural birth center birth or my baby arriving healthy and, well, alive, the induction wins every time. Plus, this makes it so easy to get mh dh there in time, so there is that benefit too <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/redface.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Embarrassment"> .
