I'm wondering if there are any doulas who've been trained and/or certified by ALACE in New York or the tri-state are.

I never certified though. And I'm not practicing.

I am certified through DONA, but this July I am sponsoring an ALACE doula training in Manhattan. I'm really excited! You can PM me if you'd like information on the workshop. There's also an ALACE Yahoo group, but I don't know if any of the members are in this area aside from me.

I'm certified thorugh DONA, but my doula partner (and friend) is certified through ALACE. She sponsored 2 or 3 trainings in Reading and I sat in most of the training the one year. Therese Hakun does most of the training for ALACE and she is AWESOME. A kindred spirit and wonderful woman with much life wisdom. Having done both trainings I would recommend ALACE over DONA, for sure.

The one drawback is that DONA gets lots more interest (calls/emails) than ALACE does. But the nice thing thing about ALACE is that the training is much more thorough and is only done by a few trainers, whereas DONA has MANY trainers and I'm sure that it is harder to know what people are teaching.

If you can get the training with Therese you won't regret it!

I'm happy to say that Therese will, indeed, be leading this training.
