My homemade laundry powder seems to be causing my pocket diapers to lose absorbency (though it's fine for prefolds). I had previously ruled out Allen's because of cost but I now see on their website that they recommend using 1/4 the normal amount for HE machines, so that makes it much more economical for me. Here are my questions...

Those with HE machines, do you find 1/4 the normal amount to work well?

Do you have to use it for ALL your laundry like Charlie's, or could I still use my homemade stuff for our other laundry and just use Allen's for diapers?

Liquid or powder?

TIA for any replies

I've used Allens and I didn't measure it, just dropped in a little (I have a top loader). Diapers were always clean. I used it for diapers and used my other soap for clothes (it has soy softners and brightner). No problems.

I use Allens just for diapers, and I wash at a laundrymat. I wash 1x a week in a big front loader on the hot heavy soil cycle & only use a small amount of detergent. The diapers look & smell clean.

We've used Allen's for the last year. I use it for everything. We have a front loader and we're only on our second package and there is still tons of it left. I do laundry for a family of six, including cloth diapers, so it is very economical! Our laundry turns out great.
