So I was wondering, to all you wonderful geniuses here, have there been any studies/is there any information about any of these things being in any vaccines:
Milk products
strawberry & kiwi (I doubt it)
cephalosporins
Sulfa drugs?

My dd#2's preschool says that chicken pox vax isn't required, but that to get her in it would be easier for me show her that she has problems with the vaxing and her health. She is a walking allergy showcase. And every time she would get her shots (she is NOT up to date since 6 months, I believe) it seems like her symptoms would get worse. Help?

Momma,
google the cdc ingredients list. It will tell you whats in each individual vax. I'm not sure if any of them have the stuff you've listed but I know many contain things like neomycin and other "mycin" antibiotics. Some contain eggs and gelatin I think. I know a kid who had shock from the gelatin in his shots. Can't search MDC for the link to the CDC page right now. But if you google it you should find it quick enough plus one of the other mommas here may have it bookmarked. HTH!!

I would recommend against playing the "show us a medical reason and we'll let her play with us" game.
They are beginning a bully process. Just let them know that your DD's allergies are of concern and since she has reacted significantly to every jab she's gotten, you are not willing to risk her health by allowing more.

First of all; what state do you live in?

I am not sure that the person at the school knows what she is talking about.

In your other thread on the Catholic school exemption denial, you stated:

And now I need to call dd#2 and ds's preschool (episcopal) to see if they will still take them, I totally forgot. ANd if they don't then I don't know what I'll do. This is the ONLY place open in town that will take my kids during the times I need them for my classes.

I'm assuming you asked someone at the school about accepting religious exemptions when they mentioned the medical exemption - what exactly did you say (and with whom did you speak) and what was their response. Did the school give you any indication that a religious exemption would be denied.

I would strongly suggest not going the medical exemption route unless you have a rock solid exemption and a doctor willing to write one for you. Medical exemptions can and do get challenged, often times on an annual basis. Based on what you wrote and what's considered a valid contraindication, a medical exemption would be a stretch . . . but may not be impossible.

Exactly which vaccines (and how many doses) has DD had? I know you said you weren't sure which vaccine/dose she was missing in your other thread, but you need to find out . . . not only so we can determine if any of the ingredients may be a potential contraindication, but you need to find out for sure which vaccines/doses she really "needs" in order to get into preschool for your state b/c you may be able to knock one or two off the list depending on NC laws.

Not sure if this may be relevant. From one of the DTaP vaccine package inserts:

Corynebacterium diphtheriae cultures are grown in a modified Mueller and ****** medium. Clostridium tetani cultures are grown in a peptone-based medium containing a bovine extract. The meat used in this medium is US sourced. Both toxins are detoxified with formaldehyde. The detoxified materials are then separately purified by serial ammonium sulfate fractionation and diafiltration.

The acellular pertussis vaccine components are isolated from culture fluids of Phase 1 Bordetella pertussis grown in a modified Stainer-Scholte medium. After purification by salt precipitation, ultracentrifugation, and ultrafiltration, preparations containing varying amounts of both pertussis toxin (PT) and filamentous hemagglutinin (FHA) are combined to obtain a 1:1 ratio and treated with formaldehyde to inactivate PT.

The diphtheria and tetanus toxoids are adsorbed using aluminum potassium sulfate (alum). The adsorbed toxoids are combined with acellular pertussis concentrate, and diluted to a final volume using sterile phosphate-buffered physiological saline. Each 0.5 mL dose is formulated to contain 6.7 Lf of diphtheria toxoid and 5 Lf of tetanus toxoid (both toxoids induce at least 2

She had your typical DTap, MMR, Hib, Hep B vax until age 9 months, where we discontinued. As per IL law, I don't have her record, so I would have to go to the doc to see. She didn't act like a religious exem. would be a huge deal, but said that if we have any evidence that they might medically harm her, then we should bring that in so that in case the religious exem is denied, we have a back up plan.

I just really need to get her in, this is the only place with a spot for her that isn't super expensive and far away from where I'll be.
