sorry for the lowercase... nursing while typing

i'm not sure if ds (3mo) has allergies or is teething or neither. he is :
1. chewing on his lip all the time, last week chewing on his fist. both would happen even after a feeding.
2. poops are sorta mucous-y. but there aren't globs of mucous in it - the poop has the texture of mucous. also its not bright yellow. its like a yellow-brown-green color.
3. his face has all these teeny bumps on it. they aren't like baby acne cuz there's no white in them... just really tiny, sometimes not visible much, sometimes red. not sure if its the heat or eczema.
4. not sleeping much at all these days.
5. but in a very good happy mood! doesn't seem upset altho two weeks ago he was a little fussy.
any opinions?

forgot a couple things!
i looked for the red ring around his bum.... there is redness there.. but i'm not sure if its THE red ring or just cuz his butt chheks are pressed together.
also i've been eating dairy throughout and i'm pretty sure his poops being like this is fairly new.

I'm gonna go with teething. The hand gnawing, lip gnawing, good mood, etc.
Lots of extra saliva can make mucous in the bm, and at least dairy allergy usually shows as green poo.

Have you tried a food journal? See if eating dairy one day makes it worse for the next 2 days?

I think you are right. Thanks for the input! I put a paci in the freezer and gave it to him and he seemed so relaxed (he NEVER takes a paci otherwise). Any good ideas on how to help him? He's 3 months so he doesn't really have the coordination to hold something in his mouth and teethers are generally too big for his mouth neways.

Nope, sorry, we're just getting there ourselves. The frozen paci is a great idea.

I've heard freezing a corner of a washcloth dipped in water and then frozen is yum, and I'm making breastmilk ice cubes to put in the mesh feeder thingy to try out too.

Good luck.
