My husband and I have taken the plunge and decided to try to get pregnant. I am currently using Rainbow Lite One-a-day (purchased at Trader Joe's), but discovered that the iron in it is ferrous sulfate. I am allergic to sulfa, and have been breaking out in hives. Would anyone be able to recommend either an iron-free prenatal or one that does not contain sulfate in it?<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/shy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="innocent">

I'm under the impression that the most important vitamin to make sure you have enough of pre-positive test is folic acid. So maybe you could just supplement with that?

i like the metagenics prenatals as they are a pack of supplements that you take 2 times a day. The iron and calcium are seperate as the iron tends to constipate and the calcium tends to make ya nauseous so they can be taken as needed. or if your diet is pretty good with fresh fruits and veggies, i would just supplement with folic acid daily. also blood test will show if your iron is low and needs supplementing.
