I'm wondering if I should try striping my membranes? My mom is a midwife of 20 + years and is willing to do this for me. I tried castor oil yesterday with little change but a bunch of mucus did come out in the night. I'm just having so much pain in my hips and would really like some relief.
Some input would be great!

How bout a warm bath instead

I know it must be frustrating, but I really believe one intervention, no matter how "harmless" leads to another, or at the least, often a longer, more difficult birth. Sounds like your body is working hard at opening up and getting ready, try not to rush it.

I did that with my last few pregnancies. I didn't think it was any more interventive then really rough sex (which I didn't feel like) Just know that one things leads to another. My UC was SUPER intense and quick, and in retrospect (despite 12-18hrs of regular labor each day for 4 days ahead of time) he was EARLY and could have used a few more days or weeks on the inside.

Try a TENS machine for the pain in your hips, and also go for a swim to get baby up out of your pelvis a bit. My guess is that his position is off and his head is engaged oddly in your pelvis and that's why you're having so much pain.

If you do decide to try stripping your membranes, I'd give it a few days first.

Oh dear mama!!! Please don't do that...I had those "interventions" done with my baby thinking he would come sooner. I did it for the pain in my lower back and hips to but then I ended up birthing a posterior, a-cynclitic too soon baby after a 42 hour labor and 2 hours pushing!!! Please, please, please let your body do it's natural thing. Try some hand and knees hip rotations and things to help engage the baby differently or like PP said, swim! That always helped me get comfy. I would just hate for anyone to have anything similar to my birth!! That discomfort is not saved for even my worst enemy!!! Have a blessed time and remember, you are looking at literally days until you see your little baby instead of weeks!!!

I heard similar things from a couple of moms ( that this solution was worse than the problem). As my wee-one seemed to get too heavy I induced the labor with acupressure, which worked pretty much within twelve hours.
The same acupressure points were a great deal of help a apropos pain relief during the process of labor itself.

These are pretty much all I used. I was scared to scream during the whole thing so nobody calls the hospital and just yelled then she already came out.
Nobody was even suspecting until my husband came out ,who had it written all over him. So I experienced this thing as quite effective.
If you don't want to induce yet try this resource.

They tell you the ones you are not supposed to push during pregnancy it's the ones that actually induce labor.
Good luck I hope you'll find a solution.
