My aloe vera plant just fell off a shelf and one of the leaves broke off. While I was cleaning it up, DS grabbed the broken leaf and tried to eat it. He brought it over to me telling me it was yucky and then he threw up. Could the aloe vera have made him throw up that fast, or could it have actually been from something he ate earlier and it was just timed perfectly like that, or could he actually be sick? Is there any way of knowing? He's nursing now and he seems like himself... any help is much appreciated

I found this page that says that aloe can cause diarrhea. It also says it can cause red urine so don't freak out if he gets that because it says it is mild toxicity. http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/c...on/Aloe_ve.htm

Maybe he just threw up because it tasted really gross to him?

We give 1 yr old DS 1 tsp of aloe juice per day to keep him regular. Massive amounts can cause diarrhea, but it isn't toxic to taste.

hmm, maybe.. i never throw up so I get nervous when DS does! Hopefully it was some kind of reaction to the aloe and not to the raw carrot cake we had earlier, because we're having that again today for Easter desert and I don't want to make anyone throw up!!

If he was allergic to aloe vera, would it have made him throw up that fast?
