Hey mamas,
I am unable to breastfeed, and so have been giving my 18 month old ds some formula and some milk, but try to give more and more water as he gets older. No juice. He is usually ok with water during the day, but wants milk/formula when he goes to bed and when he wakes up, from night or nap.

I would like to cut back on cow's milk and formula, and I am torn between almond milk, soy milk, and rice milk... I would prob try a "natural" flavour (less sugar, though I know still sugar). We tried hemp milk once and he hated it (but it has a very distinct taste). I think he will drink the others above, he isn't too picky.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Or alternative ideas? Should I give him some of each of them (rotate?)

Thanks in advance!

we use goat milk and rice milk. My oldest prefers the goat milk and my middle will drink either but usually drinks goat milk unless he his having an upset GI system and then he drink rice milk.

Rice milk is naturally sweet and most kids love it. I give Mas hemp milk. They don't really need to drink milk, but it looks like he just wants it for bedtime routine, understanble. Just make sure not to call them all "milk," that can confuse their taste expectations. You could also try mixing half hemp w/ half rice milk, the hemp is very nutritious.

We alternate with toddler formula (alas the kind that doesn't bother her is only available in Canada!) and full fat goat's milk which she's fine with.
I also mix in cultures and DHA ARA supplements once a day.
