I work at a small grocery store and was just told that our freezers have a freon leak that they cant find. They thought it was outside of the store but now they know its somewhere in the building and they are walking around with a gadget that beeps when they go in certain areas (by my office). Some girl just passed out and that could be totally unrelated but I am freaking out about my baby. I am 21 weeks and we have probably had this leak for sometime now. I am so worried about exposure to my fetus... is freon harmless? Should I be worried? Should I go home?

Depending on the level of exposure it could potentially affect the baby (as a result of a google search.) If it were me I would leave and call my ob/mw. You are most likely fine, but it wouldn't hurt to be checked out.

Yeah, that sounds like a legitimate concern. I would leave also and call my care provider. If nothing else, fresh air could help you feel more confident. I'm sure it's nothing, but I guess better safe than sorry in this case.

As a side note, I worked in a darkroom when I was in my first trimester with ds. I always wore a gas mask when I was mixing or working with chemistry (and gloves and a lab coat ) but there was I'm sure a lot of latent exposure for both of us. He's fine. Odds are good your little one is, too!
