am I actually feeling the baby on the outside of my abdomen???

When I lay down in bed at night I can occasionally feel a small hard lump. I usually feel it in the upper left or lower middle areas of where my uterus is and it moves... fast. Last night I felt it on the top left and then got up to take a loud toy from the dogs and when I laid back down it was down low slightly to the right. Is this baby??? or some weird muscle knotting? I haven't felt a whole lot of movement yet, well I feel things, but I'm not convinced that it's always movement. I guess I just don't really know what it should feel like?

Just wondering if anyone else is feeling the baby from the outside?? :

I would imagine so. I'm 18 weeks today and I've been able to tell where the baby is for a couple weeks now, sooooo neat! S/he feels a lot bigger than what I would have thought for this point in pregnancy! I don't know how I didn't feel it with my other pregnancies.

Yup, we've been feeling and seeing Shmoo move from the outside for a couple of weeks. I'm about 19 weeks now, according to my dating ultrasound at 8 weeks. I'm amazed at seeing things moving around when i'm hanging around in bed, reading! I love this part!

I can feel my baby from the outside too. When I push on him/her, s/he pushes back. It's pretty fun.

Our first baby my husband felt kick at 19 weeks, I was feeling him kick from the outside for two weeks before that.

The second my husband didn't feel til 21 weeks but since I felt him from the inside since 14 weeks I could find him and feel kicks from about 16 weeks.

This one has an anterior placenta, so I suspect it will be a long time before hubby can feel kicks, but when the baby is low I can feel where s/he is from the outside, I was able to feel that actually before I could feel kicks, because of the placenta I'm still not feeling kicks and flutters much, only when there is a big squirmy movement.

I feel the same way! Sometimes I feel like I get little squirms, and there have been maybe three times that I think I got a good kick. I'm not sure yet, though - it's such a new sensation!!

My mw says that 5 months from the day you feel your first good kick is your due date (she's half joking, but told me to put an X on my calendar so we can see how it works out).
