Ok, so I know they say kegel kegel kegel..... well I'm fine with that. However, I'm not sure I'm doing them right. I know they say the easiest way to find the right muscles is to stop your urine stream...well, I know I'm getting the right muscles but I use the muscles in certain situations...adult situations..

Anyway, this is so embarassing but I want to make i'm doing them right and not wrong and wasting my time.... but when I do the kegels I get that same feeling that I get right before orgasm.

So, am I doing them wrong or should I just "enjoy" my kegels?

I went to a physical therapist for stress incontinence and one thing she did was make sure I was doing them right. She put one hand on my belly, one on my butt and said that when you do them, you shouldn't be tightening either belly or butt muscles, otherwise you are doing them wrong. Can't tell you about the other sensations, maybe you should just enjoy doing them.

Well, since we're on the TMI track -- I gave up doing them while peeing because I found that it made it hard for my body to relax and actually get rid of all the urine (which may be the reason for the bladder infections,) and as I get UTI's really easily, it made me feel stressed and panicky.

Personally, I practice them during intercourse -- more enjoyable for me, and the better I get at them the better reaction I get from my DH!! Double bonus!

I just had to say that in australia at least they STRONGLY recommend that you try stopping urine flow with kegels ONCE only to make sure you are doing it right and know what it feels like it but after that do them some other time. Messing with your urine flow can cause bladder or kidney problems like Irish Princess found. I also saw a pelvic floor speicalist physio a few times post natal to make sure I was getting my exercises right and healing ok. I complained to her that I had never been able to fully isolate my pelvic floor and not engage the abs at all. She said that current research actually showed that it was as good or better to also engage the lower/deep abs as long as you aren't using the upper abs or relying more on the abs than the pelvic floor.

Yeah, I only did it once too because of the UTI possibility. It causes urine to stay in the bladder.....

I use them during sex too... another reason to um... practice
