or are there others who get really offended when someone calls a birtrh "natural" just because the baby was born vaginally? My little sister just gave birth to a whopping 10 pound baby boy. Yay! My mom called me and said she was able to deliver naturally. My first thought, thank goodness. But then I got irritated. She had a planned induction, planned an epidural, planned an episiotomy...the whole intervention bit. And I'm not knocking her choices. Everybody has to do what's right for them. But it's not natural just because the baby came out the right opening...

: I'm probably just too sensitive. I'm just glad with all the interventions, my nephew wasn't cut out of my little sis. Rejoice in the small victories.

It bugs me, too. When my SIL had her baby, she told everybody how she got pit, had one epidural that didn't take, then another. But she delivered the baby naturally.

ETA: In her defense, she was induced because she had fallen three days before, the baby wasn't moving much, and the heartbeat was erratic. So it was a justifiable induction, but it def wasn't natural. Y'know?

I hear you. I think people who say "natural" in place of vaginal just don't want to say vaginal.

I can certainly see where you're coming from...but I think if I have a successful VBA2C, I may find myself saying "natural", even if it isn't. I don't really think a birth loaded with interventions is natural, but it may seem that way to me after two surgical deliveries, kwim?

It doesn't bug me. Natural is such a vague term. If a woman is happy with her experience, I figure that's cool.

The big thing I am against in terms of birth is when a woman feels victimized, like things were done that she didn't want/didn't feel good about, or that she just didn't all around feel respected.

I mean, I think it's *weird* when people have all kinds of interventions and say they had a natural birth, but it doesn't bother me.
