Our littlest girl, Amalie - the twin with the heart defect, started kicking me like crazy last night - I could even feel a few of them from the outside! Ellen has been kicking like that for some time, but I haven't felt such strong kicks from Amalie yet.

I am so excited, as I take it this means not only that her amniotic fluid levels must be getting better, but that she is GROWING!! Yahoo!!

Interestingly, yesterday morning I was really worried about her because I hadn't felt much at all from her, and so I checked her quickly with the doppler (Yeah, I know...but 10 seconds here and there keeps me from stressing) and found her hb right away. Then I checked Ellen, and found her right away too - directly parallel from Amalie. I got this sudden vivid picture in my head of the two of them facing each other, with Amalie studying Ellen's heart and Ellen helping Amalie to fix her heart. (My energy healer on Tuesday suggested to Amalie that she do that so she would know what her heart should look like.) Anyway, it may have been my imagination, but it was neat!

I am so happy that the babies are kicking you! Way to go with your positive thinking. And I keep a doppler handy too, just to keep the freak outs to a minimum!
My baby is starting to kick me like crazy too. I swear, I never get sick of that feeling!

Isn't that the best feeling in the world??

You must be so relieved to feel her kick so vigourously!!

I sure hope she finds how to heal her heart before birth, wouldn't that be great!???

Thanks everyone! Yes, it is so wonderful and so reassuring to feel both our girls kick, but especially Amalie. I actually woke up this morning to two strong thuds from her. What a great way to start the day!! It does feel like she is letting me know she is ok when she kicks like that. I still feel Ellen much more often, but I have read that it is not uncommon with twins, even if both are healthy, to feel one more than the other. Also, we do know Ellen is bigger.

Julie, I know which one is kicking because they each have a side of my uterus staked out. They are in separate sacs, so they can't switch sides too easily, though they do move around a lot. Still, I have a fairly good idea from position and strength of kick just who it is.

And yes, we did see, and love, the movie Amalie, though that is not why she got her name. We just loved the name, and its meaning (God's work) and we wanted her to have a name that was an affirmation of how much she means to us.

Genevive, I hope and pray that she can heal her heart before birth. That would be incredible. I am trying to do as much as I can to help her down that path, but not get too invested in her heart being perfect at birth, kwim? As long as she just keeps growing, I am happy.

As an aside, I just read an article that says that scientists are discovering that maternal cells actually cross the placenta and take up residence in the fetus during pregnancy - and that they can lodge in any of the major organs, including the heart. My heart has always been strong, so now I am working on getting some of my good heart cells down to my dd!
