This was funny.

My mom, bless her heart, is still somewhat bewildered by my crunchy ways. I was a formula fed, crib-slept baby (although my parents were very "ap" in other ways...I was not left to cry, I was always fed in arms, and they followed the teachings of Haim Ginott quite faithfully ).

She has never really "gotten" the whole breastfeeding thing, esp. breastfeeding past infancy. However she has now seen it in all of her grandchildren (my 3, my sil's 2) -- all of whom have been or are being breastfed until at least 2 years old, co-slept, worn, etc.

In general she's fairly cool about it (although she didn't hesitate to mention to me the famous Harvard study about how bf'ing doesn't prevent adult obesity ) and doesn't bat an eye when her grandchildren nurse (anymore).

That's the background. So today, she's on the phone with me while I'm at the computer and my 20 month old ds comes over and starts to shout at me (his general mode of verbal communication these days) NUWS! NUWS!

So as I'm chuckling and trying to corral a toddler who is attempting to disrobe me and climb up my skirt at the same time, Mom says,

"Have you given any thought to weaning lately?"

: :

I said, "I don't think he's willing to consider it."
