This was funny.<br><br>
My mom, bless her heart, is still somewhat bewildered by my crunchy ways. I was a formula fed, crib-slept baby (although my parents were very "ap" in other ways...I was not left to cry, I was always fed in arms, and they followed the teachings of Haim Ginott quite faithfully <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> ).<br><br>
She has never really "gotten" the whole breastfeeding thing, esp. breastfeeding past infancy. However she has now seen it in all of her grandchildren (my 3, my sil's 2) -- all of whom have been or are being breastfed until at least 2 years old, co-slept, worn, etc.<br><br>
In general she's fairly cool about it (although she didn't hesitate to mention to me the famous Harvard study about how bf'ing doesn't prevent adult obesity <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/rolleyes.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="rolleyes">) and doesn't bat an eye when her grandchildren nurse (anymore).<br><br>
That's the background. So today, she's on the phone with me while I'm at the computer and my 20 month old ds comes over and starts to shout at me (his general mode of verbal communication these days) NUWS! NUWS!<br><br>
So as I'm chuckling and trying to corral a toddler who is attempting to disrobe me and climb up my skirt at the same time, Mom says,<br><br>
"Have you given any thought to weaning lately?"<br><br><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/biglaugh.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="laugh">: <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/spitdrink.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="spitdrink">:<br><br>
I said, "I don't think he's willing to consider it."

Great answer!<br><br>
It's not like weaning would make him talk more, shout less, or stop acting like a toddler!

I love that story...kinda reminds me of my mom...while she supports my choice to BF (I too was FF but coslept and was AP'd in most other ways) Still jokes that the boulders I carry in front of me might sufficate my newborn...since they are almost as large as my 2 yo's head!!! LOL...thanks for sharing!!

No joke. It's the only time when he's quiet. Well, mostly. Sometimes he carries on a running conversation with me, stopping to take "sips". He's always moving, unless he's sleeping. We also have a running battle about where his hands are (he wants them to be uhhh...feeling me up <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/hide.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="hide">: and I can't STAND that so I'm always trying to hold them or give him something else to hold <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> )

That's cute. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngtongue.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Stick Out Tongue"> My own mom has come around too although I don't think she will completely "get" the breastfeeding. She keeps asking me when I'm going to feed my "starving" baby solids (kind of in jest and kind of not). The just sighs and says "You new age parents" Like breastfeeding is some new sort of trendy thing <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

My toddler doesn't nurse anymore(well every once in a while), but I am so happy to hear about the feeling up thing!!! Nursing a baby means I am always exposed, and my older son thinks it is an invitation.
