Does anyone out there have any experience with this. My little girl is going to be tested for it. She's been tested for so many things already, but this one seems to fit, with the exception of seizures (which we hope don't start).

She's developmentally delayed. She didn't sit on her own until about 16 months. She will be three in two months and isn't standing or crawling on all fours. She doesn't speak, but seems to understand some things. Every now and then, though, it sounds like she says "Dora" She is social most of the time, seeks out eye contact and smiles. She "claps" quite a bit (folds her hands together). She does this when complacent, happy, sad...just about any time. She has a lighter hair and eye color than the rest of us, and has strabismus.

She also has very strange sleeping habits. It's as if she only needs 5-6 hours a night, and this is often broken up. Ciara is also a laugher, and will just have laughing outbursts, and sometimes, we can't tell what made her laugh.

There are also "tremors" She shakes a lot. If she is woken up, she trembles like crazy. If she's stood during therapy she's very shakey.

I just hope we find some answers...

Jen, I don't have any help for you on this one, but just wanted to say I think of you and Ciara from time to time...you were the first one to suggest that Maura had low muscle tone and I wished I'd listen to you sooner (yes, I can admit that I was a bit in denial about Maura's problems...but then again, her pediatrician didn't catch it either until 15 months!)

Maura isn't talking yet either, but has made leaps and bounds with her physical development. She didn't walk until almost 23 months and we're still working on running and jumping, but is quite the accomplished climber. I joke that everything we'd rather her NOT learn, those things she does on time! She also has strabismus (took forever to get the diagnsosis even though everyone and the check out girl at Target noticed it.) She has cute little Blues Clues glasses that she refuses to wear. She loves Blues Clues though and I got her a little Blue and Magenta doll...we think she tried to make Magenta bark today - to me, that counts as a word! LOL!

Anyway, thought I'd say hi - I don't get over to the BC May 2003 board a lot anymore....and Maura's trying to help me type now...

Phoebe from BC and Maura (who I can't believe will be turning three soon!)
