I'm close-ish. I want to hook up with some other moms who are into the more natural side of mothering, and who would be up for doing hikes and outdoor related stuff. Not been able to find like minded people. "Go for a hike, where? In the woods? Oh my gosh, no!" LOL

I'm also in A2 and would love to get to know more moms in the area.
Carrin: I love to hike and do outdoors activities. I too have had trouble meeting others who enjoy hiking etc (more accurately---I meet them, we hike and then they move away back to more mountainous areas of the US....). Where is Ortonville? I'm right on the A2/South Lyon border.

We just moved to Milford (1/2 hour north of Ann Arbor) a few months ago from Wisconsin and I would love to meet some Mothering mothers!!! We live a mile or so from Kensington Park and it has the most beautiful bike trail I've ever been on! Shall we set up a play date or mom's date????

Ortonville is within an hour of A2. i'm up by Clarkston. I go to Milford to get my organic meats at Colasanti's/Snooks. Kensington is great...went kayaking there this summer for the first time. With the weather getting chilly, we could always do the Howell Nature Center, or something like that. If we did a play date, it would just be me and my big belly for now, as this is my first. LOL

We're from AA (before kids), and will be moving back for a while in June. I am looking for an intact-friendly, extended-nursing friendly pediatrician. I'd be willing to drive to the AA subburbs or even the western Detroit metro area for someone great. Any leads?

In AA, I know a few people who use Dr. Baker in the U-M system (I don't have a first name) and love him. However, the friends in question are pretty mainstream, and I know they won't know his circ/EBF status.

Hi Stacy,
Yes, there is a very friendly Ped, Dr Beth Barclay of Liberty Ped. She is very inclusive to many alternative parenting choices. She herself is a Mother of 3. I also believe she takes most all insurance, which is a plus. We've been happy with her care, the few times we've needed it. I hope this helps.

We use Liberty Pediatrics too and see Dr. Seiler. However, last I heard, they weren't accepting new patients as they already had so many, accepting more would take away from their patient care. This is great for us b/c I can call and get an appointment that day when needed instead of waiting a week. However, can't hurt to call and ask, maybe someone moved. Oh, and they no longer accept Blue Cross.

Another Ann Arbor soon-to-be mommy here! I live in Touchstone Cohousing on the "new west side" of Ann Arbor (http://www.touchstonecohousing.org/). Several AP and AP-friendly moms here in cohousing. As soon as our common house is built, we'd love to host a MDC get-together.

I second the yahoogroup mentioned in #2. Here's more local Ann Arbor info from the listowners: http://www.unixmama.com/arborparents/faq.html

Nobody mentioned the Mothering Arts group at Center for the Childbearing Year:
http://newmoonmidwifery.com/group.html

Also there are five LLL meetings in the area, one evening Ann Arbor, one evening Ypsi, and three daytime Ann Arbor: http://www.hvcn.org/info/lll/

Also also, there's this cool new play place that just opened in Ann Arbor, Fantasy Forest: http://www.fantasy-forest.com/ It's run by a local mom. I have heard nothing but good stuff about it from folks who have visited!

Okay, so I'm a librarian.
I can't help myself!
