Besides the Maryland Report card http://msp.msde.state.md.us/ website and visiting my near by school is there anything else I can do to check into schools in my area?

Also does anyone know how you go about getting and exemption to go to another school in your district?

The school that we are slated to go to is not so hot and the one that is actually closer would be very near the pre-k/ daycare i would be working at if we go this route. I think you can get an exeption if the aftercare facility you use is in adifferent district, right?

I have also heard of alternative schools such as a public montessori and a full emersion language school (motgomery co). I can't find any info as to whether AA county has any of these.

Anyone know about this stuff?

Yep same boat here...like you once said to me, if it weren't for Breastfeeding and cloth diapers...I dont' know how we'd do it! What really gets me is the PreK is on a lottery system or soemthing, so if I"m not lucky enough to get her into it...we have to keep paying for daycare...:

I thought that it was on a "needs" basis too? Like underprivaliged and children that needed services (speech, occupational)? It might be different then when a friend of mine applied a couple years ago. Rowan isn't old enough to leave all day yet so I'm just focusing on K options.
