We did it. Our apparently misguided bombs just beheaded a child who was attending a wedding, and killed at least 39 other people who were with her. This isn't the first time we've done it, but it's worth pointing it out in the face of the outrage that anyone who could do such a thing to one of our citizens qualifies as evil while we do not.

Oh and she was probably dressed up all pretty and having a good time. Hopefully she never knew what hit her....and hopefully the others who were killed also did not suffer.

Oy I keep feeling incredulous and disgusted at how this does get worse EVERY freaking day!

My heart is pretty low....this must stop. Somehow we must stop it.

What I do not understand, no, make that among the many things I do not understand...

If we are sending in BOMBS why don't we declare war again and be done with it. That is not a police action! Can you imagine police bombing L.A.? No, that is war. At least be honest about it. We're not helping, we're hurting.

I feel safe enough saying that Bush's presidency is now in the toilet, but what will happen when Mr. Kerry inherits this mess?

Kerry's plan for Iraq has received a lot of praise, and indeed parts of it are now being carried out by Bush Inc.

That right there tells me that Kerry is qualified and can be trusted to take over the reins.

mahdokht, I love a cockeyed optimist.

This whole mess was so entirely predictable from the outset...

Hope you don't mind, but I found a link with an interesting comparison. This is very sad. The US is investigating this report of civilian deaths.

wedding party

I agree with tiredx2, why haven't we declared war again. Heck why did bush even say the war was over when we lost more people since then than while we were 'still at war'. When troops are still over there and iraqi civilians and troops are dying how the hell is war over?

I agree bush's presidency is in the toilet, it always was but I really hope he is done for now.

ITA with pretty much everything you have all said. I had to stop watching the news for a few days because I was getting really depressed. Now that I've taken a breather, I'm back to pay attention to the horror the US is creating and perpetuating in Iraq.

From Isleta's Truthout.org link:

"This was a wedding and the (U.S.) planes came and attacked the people at a house. Is this the democracy and freedom that (President) Bush has brought us?" said a man on the videotape, Dahham Harraj. "There was no reason."

It will be interesting to see what the reasoning will become...

I don't think firing guns in the air is any too smart when there is a war going on, but for heavens sake we checked it out! It was a wedding party! Why did we kill them? What is the reason!?

with Sadam gone, Bush had to declare the war over............ or admit we weren't "liberators"

How is it that our "representatives" can do this and we are unable to do anythign about it? How can we allow this? How can we change this? It just doesn't seem right to sit by and watch people killed for no good reason. Even if we were liberating them- it isn't our place. It isn't our right.

"There lay 27 graves: mounds of dirt each marked with a single square of crudely cut marble, a name scribbled in black paint. Some gave more than one name, and one, belonging to a woman Hamda Suleman, the briefest of explanations: "The American bombing."
