Hello!
:
Another central KY mama here. We live about 1 hour south of Lexington. In our small town we feel very alone at times. We had a festival last year in our town and I carried our youngest son in a sling to attend and people literally stopped in the streets and stared, very uncomfortable at first. But before the night was over I actually had some moms coming up and asking where they could get one.
We homeschool, select vax, breastfeed, co-sleep, and a whole list of other things that just make our fellow town citizens consider us "odd". It cracks me up when I hear my sister talk about other townsfolk refer to us as "the weird hippy people up on the hill" without knowing they are talking to a family member. lol I grew up in this town though, so it does make it easier, I know them and know they dont really mean any real harm, they just dont understand. Slowly, with time, maybe we can make a small impact. I hope to find support here that is sadly lacking in our town. Thank you all for having me. : )
