Has anyone's baby gone from LESS to MORE pooping?

DS (5 months) has gone anywhere from 5 to as long as 9 days without pooping, he's been this way his entire life, literally from birth. He's an extremely happy, healthy baby so I chalked it up to normal. (His doc said the same thing when I asked her about it at a checkup) Always soft, always EBF colored poo. Just one huge motherload of it about once a week.

Until this week. This week, he has pooped daily, today he even pooped *twice.*

I've heard of babies going from pooping *all the time* to being more like my babe....
Or is this because he's got a touch of a cold and maybe is swallowing mucousy junk? (one of the poops looked like it had some in it.) (he's got a little cough going on, other than the couple of times a day he coughs a few times though, he is fine.)

He has absolutely no other signs of allergy to anything, behavior and everything is the same as always. Extremely happy. And I've had an allergy-baby before, he had miserable colicy crying till I figured out what it was. (It was milk, which I do not drink now.) Plus I mean he is 5 months old I would think an allergy would've shown long before now.

are you taking anything for your supply? I started taking fenugreek and belssed thisle capsules, and suddenly my once every three or four days LO was going 4 times a DAY. I stopped taking the capsules, hes pooing went back to like one a day. Wierd, i know, but apparently possible. (FYI, its not that I was producing more, because he gets four bottles of BM a day, all 4 ounces. and I couldnt pump anymore then i was before)

the exact same thing happened to my lo. i dont know why, maybe something with growth times etc. but then once we added solids it was every 4 days and occassionally we get 2 days in a row or even 2x a day. its ssstttrrraaannnggeeee! but either way he always has soft ones so im not worried about constipation.

all in all i say its normal unless you notice other symptoms!

He has been drooling quite a bit, sometimes when he's been chewing his fingers especially, it's been enough that I've changed his outfit.

He discovered his thumb last week, which I think is *adorable*

all in all I think teething is entirely possible.

also I know when DD was a baby I asked a LC once (calling for something else entirely, one of those 'while i've got you on the phone's") about her not pooping for several days...she said when they are in a growth spurt they'll 'use' all the milk for growing and poop less.

So.....he's now 5 months old, and I know they grow and gain most rapidly in the first 4 months....so it also makes sense to me that his growth may be slowing down a bit and so now he is going to poop more.
