Soo, I am totally craving NERDS candy right now. I know its completely unhealthy and pure sugar, but omg I WANT SOME SO BAD. I am trying to be really careful/good about the foods I eat, but dangit. Tell me its ok to eat pure sugar, just on occasion? :/

*Can you tell I am a first timer? Sheesh.

My first pregnancy I craved sour candy like crazy.
One of my pregnancies I had a major craving for sour patch kids. My dh went and got a big bag from the convenience store, and I ate the whole thing in one sitting. My mouth was burning with canker sores from all the sugar and acid, and I still couldn't stop eating them!

So maybe I'm not the best person to tell you to stay strong...

Maybe it is the citric acid you are craving in the nerds? I craved sweetarts like crazy my first pregnancy, but worked hard to try and decrease my reliance on sugar since then...no candy cravings yet, but freshed squeezed OJ really hits the spot!

I bought (and ate) an entire thing of ben and Jerry's this week. Caramel Sutra... mmmm

I'm staying away from food colorings now because they affect my DD so I've decided not to put them in this baby, but I can relate to the cravings

I do that weekly! It's my tradition when DH goes out, DS goes to bed early and I have the house to myself

OP: It will be a long and painful pregnancy if you deny yourself all your cravings. Obviously you can't give in to all of them but it definitely won't hurt to give in to some (or, in my case... most!)

Glad you enjoyed the nerds!

My husband & I are on vacation right now with his family. We explained to his parents that I'm being really careful about my food right now, but neither of them get it. My father in law even mocked me for eating organic foods because (paraphrase) "people have been living longer ever since processed foods & synthetic pesticides became ubiquitous" (as if nothing else has changed in the last 100 years or so or that the current generation of children isn't the first projected to have a shorter life expectancy than their parents).

My mother in law bought a big tray of oreos and I Want One. Intensely. They're sitting right downstairs and it's taking a lot of willpower not to have one, but I can't do that after struggling to get my in-laws to understand that I'm on an organic whole foods diet and, no, I will not go out for supper at the Chinese place where there's god knows how much msg and yellow #5 and whatever else in the food.

I don't even like oreos!

Not in your DDC, but just chiming in - sour candies were and are my friend throughout the whole 1st trimester. I was putting away about 2 bags of sour patch kids a week for about 4 weeks. Now I'm onto Nerds, so I just had to reply. I'm sitting at my desk with a box inhaling them as I type! The sour is just really helpful for the nausea, and they're just tart enough to not be too sugary sweet.

Isn't it weird about the sour cravings? I craved LEMONS like crazy throughout my first pregnancy. I figured it was something to do with the citrusy stuff about it, or maybe the antioxidants? I also craved sour candy with both my pgs but this one that hasn't hit me yet... I have been craving salads though, and nuts. Oh, and anything doughnuty-like, but I always crave that!
