...which may sound a bit strange, but hey, I've got first trimester pg insomnia and have been wondering about this recently...

Were you completely naked in the birthing tub? If not, what did you wear?

We're planning on a home waterbirth this time around, but it's likely my FIL will be here to help run interference with my four other children. I'm perfectly comfortable with nudity around my immediate family and midwife, but not around FIL. Am I being totally strange to even worry about this? Did anyone else have any of these concerns? What would be a good solution?

Kind regards,
most women forget about modesty in hard labor, but i have seen moms deliver in the tub wearing bathing suit tops, or even a tshirt.

yeah, even a sports bra offers some coverage. however, i'd steer clear of a white one for obvious reasons.

I'm planning to wear a sports bra just to keep my nips covered in case I don't want DS nursing. He goes crazy whenever he even SEES "the nummies." I can always pop them out if I want him to help things along. It's going to be COLD in my house too--February--so I am putting the pool in front of the fireplace and will have a big fleece robe ready for when I get out. I get really cold when I'm in labor too, go figure.

I've worn a black sports bra and had a robe nearby. I've never lost my sense of modesty, no matter what stage of labor I'm in. Is there anyway you could limit FILs presence to a certain area of the house---like where you are not? I would be hesitant to invite anyone who I wasn't completely comfortable around to be present for the birth. It's amazing what the body can do if inhibited. Just a thought Best wishes with everything!!!

When I had my second in a hospital birth center, I wore their gown in the tub. You could probably wear something like a nightgown or cotton robe.

I'm not a naked in front of people type of person at all so I bought a maternity swimming suit (2 peice so I can leave the bottoms off) but it goes longer so if I have to step out I can pull it down. LOL
