Is this a Homeopathy 'healing reaction' or a dairy allergy?

I have discovered lately that I have had a probable lifelong dairy allergy. I had severe colic even while being breastfed as a baby (my mom consumes huge amounts of dairy), I always felt depressed and sick for much of the time I remember consuming shakes, milk, etc. Lately (and years prior to now) I went on a dairy elimination diet and noticed a HUGE difference when I consumed even a 1/4 cup 'dose' of milk - instant stomach cramps, feeling 'poisoned' all over, nasal stuffiness (extreme) within SECONDS, etc. I am wondering if that is why the so-called sinus remedies (homeopathic) that I have been trying are not helping.

I have been trying to figure out what I believe about homeopathy. I mean, the teething tablets for babies seem to work well in some cases, but maybe it is not the homeopathy as much as the milk sugar taste or the attention given to something that will 'make it better'...I am still not sure how I feel about homeopathy. I am very much worried about vaccines, and am afraid of allopathic docs because of my own experiences. They offer drugs and surgery for almost everything - it is sad to me. Not ONCE did they ask me what I was eating, and none of them would have agreed that dairy allergy could be a factor in my frequent sinus problems.

I have written and called a certain homeopathic company that has 'cures' with '85% success rates' and raving reviews on their website, and they informed me that dairy allergy and/or lactose intolerance was NOT an issue with homeopathic medicines, that I was just having a 'healing crisis'. It is interesting to me that this 'healing crisis' seems to be never-ending though (I have been taking these over a month, and I did stop taking them the last few days and experienced some much-needed drainage). In the past when I took other lactose-based homeopathic 'remedies' (other brands of sinus remedies) I also noted that they did not help me, in fact they made me stuffier.

Is this anyone else's experience, am I being too hard on homeopathy? I believe in naturally treating our bodies as much as possible, but is homeopathy a little out there for some of you? Are there some who are still anti-vax but also anti-homeopathy?

Thank you - I just want to know if I am imagining this...

Some folks seem to react to the lactose in homeopathic remedies, but others don't. There are sucrose-based homeopathic remedies around, I think some are 100% sucrose and no lactose, so I'd seek them out. Thing is--some folks with dairy issues _are_ able to tolerate lactose-based homeopathic remedies just fine, so that's probably what they're thinking. But to assume that everyone with milk issues is perfectly fine with a lactose-based homeopathic is, well, narrow-minded.

We don't vaccinate, but I've got to say I haven't done much with homeopathy so far either. I used to think it was probably fake, but I didn't care much one way or another, but I've come to think that there is something to it, perhaps something pretty powerful.

My kids and I don't consume dairy, but both the kids have been fine, and shown improvement, with acute homepathic remedies, and ours have at least some lactose. But I'd look around for one based on sucrose if we'd had issues.

My dd has a bad dairy allergy and I too was told that the homeopathics (in lactose) would be fine. I gave them to her and she immediatly had green mucous diarrhea and then a few days later had an ear infection. We thought it was a "healing crisis" b/c I was told she could not be reacting to the homeopathic. We then gave them to her FOUR more times dilluted in water where she only got one drop. She had the same reaction everytime. I finally realized she is indeed reacting to the homeopathic and it actually set us back in her healing quite a bit.

I guess this is rare, but if your feeling bad stop taking them and see. It is possible! And I'm not trying to diss homeopathy- you can get the remedies in alcohol without the lactose. We have had great success with herbs, dietary interventions, and supplements. So don't give up on natural things, there are many more ways to go about things than just homeopathy!

I just wanted to add to mine (and can't find an edit button on this old computer that I am using) that we do plan on trying homeopathy again at some point. I think it can work if you have the right remedy and for us it doesn't contain lactose.

We don't use homeopathics. The remedies we've used in the past (teething tabs, pulsatilla) didn't have any effect. How do you feel about nutritional healing or about herbs? Others might suggest energy work (something we've not had success with, though) or Traditiona Chinese medicine. I think there is a broad range of healing modalities, and personally, I don't feel like I have to accept or reject any one in its entirety. I use what works and move on. I do think that allopathic medicine has its place. Perhaps you could find a doctor that practices both allopathic and natural medicine?

I have a great Naturopathic doctor. When I first started seeing him, homeopathy seemed a little out there (not out of this world strange or anything, just something I wasn't sure could have anything "to" it, iykwim). He uses multiple approaches for his patients depending on their "comfort zone".
Anyway, when we started out together, I was most comfortable approaching things from a nutritional and possibly herbal angle. As I have learned more over the last year (seems like so much longer), I have grown more comfortable with the possibility that homeopathy may work and have tried a few remedies with varying success.
As pps have said, it is possible for some dairy allergic or intolerant people to react to the lactose in homeopathic remedies. I would consider trying a remedy in a different base, if at all possible, or trying a different form of alternative medicine.
I'm incredibly wary of allopathy as well, but agree with CP that it has it's place in health care.

I think you need a good homeopath to help guide you through what's going on.

IMO, it was irresponsible for the person at that company to tell you it was not possible for you to have a reaction to the lactose in the remedies. It is possible. It is also possible that you were having old stuff come up in order for it to heal. There is no way to know unless you have someone who knows your case that can help you figure it out.

Also, there are liquid remedies available that do not have lactose in them.
