is it just me, or is anyone else starting to get very annoyed with the "did you have that baby yet?" comments?
: it seems like the insensitivity to pregnant women never stops...

i'm 40 weeks on thursday, but already being pestered by everyone! (of course, where i live, 40w + 1d is usually grounds for induction
)

i know i have to just take deep breaths and relax... but it does seem like everyone else is in a far bigger hurry for this baby to come than i am!

That's why I got real vague about when the baby is due a few months ago. Now everybody just asks me how much longer (which is far less annoying). I just tell them sometime in the next few weeks. I also comment on how ready I am to have her and people tend to turn more encouraging. They tell me to hang in there and that it won't be much longer, etc. My friend went 11 days over just a few weeks ago and people were just so annoying to her. I'm not sure what possesses someone to look at a very pregnant woman who is past her due date and obviously not had her baby things like "you haven't had that baby yet?" or similar. Just makes it hard for a hormonal pregnant woman to not say something nasty. Hang in there, mama. It's so frustrating, but it's almost over.

Not in your DDC (I'm due Jan 6th) but it seems like my boyfriends family especially seems to think that anything I do will put me into labor and lead to a baby hours later....Also very very annoying! I'm spending x-mas with them, and I might have to knock a few heads together if they keep it up!!

good luck to all of you, I can't wait to read your birth announcements!

Considering I am 43 weeks today and this is my 5th "late" baby...yeah, it is getting irritating. You'd think when everyone asked when the baby was due and I said mid-November but it will be early December because I am always "late", they'd get the hint, but no. Instead they've been bugging me since three weeks before my edd and I get no end of phone calls to check on me and make sure every thing is okay. I've also had at least two people insist that I need a c-section and others insisting that they know what is going to make my babies come "on time", rather than allowing the possibility that this is normal for me and just letting me trust my body.

I seem to only really get this from my mom. Anytime I call her, she asks me if I've had the baby yet. As if we wouldn't call her if I'd had the baby?
She did the same thing with my last child as well.

Strangely, she keeps telling me the story about how I was nine days late, but yet she keeps calling me before my due date asking me if I've had the baby. I guess she's forgotten that babies come out when they come out.

The rest of the time, the only people who really mention it are pretty nice about it. It's usually the ladies at the Y where I walk a couple times per week or ladies at the grocery store. It's usually just polite conversation with the people I encounter.

Wow, yes. I'm due on Thursday too. Yesterday I walked in to my son's elementary school after the long holiday and all of his female teachers, administrators, aids, etc. gave me this crazy wide-eyed look and said something like "wow, I thought you'd have that baby over Thanksgiving!". Uh, ok. Even his principal who I've never spoken to came over and rubbed my belly. Ah well. It'll probably be another week, so everybody can keep their pants on! It's easier to be patient since I'm not having any prodominal labor. What about you Chic2Chic, any contractions?

I was getting the "you'll never make it to December!" comments b/c I carry so big, and now it's the, "wow, you must be ready!" comments. Honestly, I'm more than ready, but I really don't feel like talking about it with you, stranger at the store.

not a one. no signs of labor at all! (but my previous labors came on very suddenly, so that doesn't necessarily mean anything)

I'm only 38 weeks but I feel like I get almost the opposite. It's as if people don't realize I'm really close to having a baby or could even have one at any point and treat it like it's still so far away. I know a lot of that probably has to do with me having set up positive expectations and being vague about the due date, but still. Also, I get "wow, you don't look like you're about to have a baby" comments, which I guess is nice in some ways but weird b/c I AM about to have a baby. I think it's my typical wanting to seem so in control and together that produces the reaction. For ex., on Sunday we hiked into the hills to chop down our own xmas tree and carry it back and I keep taking on work projects and doing bunches of stuff. On the one hand, I have a lot invested in being super-competent and tough, but on the other it'd be nice to be pampered and worried about for once. But somehow they don't seem to go together
I have to keep reminding people that I could have a baby any day now. In fact, I've taken to saying I think it's going to come early, but that's dangerous b/c what if I go late? Oh well. Seems like there's issues any way you cut it.

Everyday I walk into work I get "You're still here?" "I figured you'd have gone this weekend." It's making me feel like I'm late already, and I've still got another 8 days before I'm officially "late".

I made a big announcement yesterday that anybody offereing input on when I'll "go" needs to include a gaurentee with it or I don't want to hear it.

I'm not due til the end of december and I kept getting "oh a thanksgiving baby" comments from strangers, so yes, I'm more than over it an I have weeks left! People keep swearing that the baby has "dropped" or is "low" and really I wish they'd shut up. I wish there was some way to have a designated comment taker when you're pregnant the way you should have a designated driver while you're drinking.

It's actually quite the opposite for me. I'm the one that keeps nagging about when he'll come out. I think everyone's getting tired of me talking about it. lol I keep hearing..." I know you don't want to hear this, but it's almost over" I say "I'm done" at least 4-5 times a day. I asked my DH if it was starting to bother him, me saying that, and he said no. So yeah...I'm the annoying one asking "WHEN?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
