Any carpet cleaning advice???

Long story short, we just moved and ds is breaking out in hives and eczema and I think it has to do with the carpets here (as it then haven't been cleaned in forever and there was a bottle of nasty toxic carpet cleaner under the sink when we moved in.... )

What do you use to deep clean your carpets? I want to avoid hiring anyone because of the harsh chemicals they will use.
