Hi!

I know there was a thread like this before, but I'm curious if there are any other mothering mamas from or around Staten Island. I'm tired of only meeting mainstream mamas at gymboree and (ack) the mall. I'd love to meet other crunchyish mamas in the neighborhood. I'm new to SAHMing and am trying to keep my sanity.

Actually I've been there a bunch. There are other likeminded mamas there, but I feel a little
about going back because I'm not able to bf anymore and care for the baby as well. Loooooong story. The leaders are very very sympathetic and understanding, but now I don't know if I should go anymore since its so hard for me to see other mamas and their nursing relationships when I can't.

Me! I have a 13 m.o. and I do nurse him, but you will get no judgment from me about not nursing and I can certainly be discreet if you'd like. PM me if you wish!

Well... NJ is just a bridge away from you if you want to look into the HMN groups here, closest to you might be Middlesex, Union and Essex.

FWIW, there's plenty mammas out here who were not able to nurse as long as they wanted to (me included), so don't feel that there's any stigma attached! I'm sure you know AP is more than just BF.

i posted a few days ago on a newer thread that was asking the same question- i'll give the same answer- hello! i have just moved back to si after about ten months up in the catskills. i am so happy to be back with people (dd and i are both in need of some re-socializing,) but i would love to meet some more like-minded people.
so, what was the word on the api group- i would love to go to a play group or find out about some other activities that i could take my 15 month old dd to. thus far, i have only heard the word "block room" from the people i have met. i havn't been yet though- anyone know about the museum? any other nice places?
thanks,
mcs

We do not live in SI, but we would more than happy to come check out. And anytime you are off the island, we would love to host playdates too.

Slingsinthecity.com has some SI members, and we plan lots of events there in the forums.
