I have a mom due in May who had a previous C-section. She is having a vbac this time. Last week she had a scan to check the baby was head down (last was breech and this one was until really recently!) and they saw a mass of fluid outside the amniotic sac. It is on the opposite side of the placenta.

I can't think what this might be. It doesn't seem the sonographer knew either. Has anyone ever experienced this before? Might it impinge on her labor? (I suppose it depends on what exactly it is!) if it were, say, water or something benign.

I suppose I am waffling but I can't find ANYTHING on it on the internet

TIA
