do you have alot of little people coming? or just adults? it depends on the people that you are having the party with.<br>
I like to feed everyone. I like to have crafts for the kids and things that they can bring home. (soap making, hand print on paper and frame it, bees wax,) stuff like that.<br>
an egg hunt and fill with treats (healthy)<br>
face painting<br>
balloon making<br>
these are all things your family can do its fun and not alot of money

We had a cowboy party for my son's first. He had two friends over and I borrowed a bunch of rocking horses. We made hobby horses out of craft foam and PVC pipe. The kids got bandanas and cowboy hats and went home with cowboy stickers and a cowboy book. We got a Gene Autry CD from the library. It sounds like a lot, but it was cheap and the kids still use all the stuff.

Dd will be one March 2, which seems to be looming <i>really close</i> these days *snif*<br><br>
When she was in utero our nickname for her was "Melonhead" (there's a story behind this, but if vaginal self-exams squick anybody it'll be tmi for them :LOL) Anyway, we're planning a melon-themed party, with a "watermelon" cake, dark pink & green balloons and a picnic-check tablecloth. The only other little kid liable to be there is ds (who will be 6) but I think I'll make a couple sets of beanbags out of watermelon-themed fabric & he can play "toss the watermelon in the basket". Dd will no doubt gnaw on the beanbags :LOL<br><br>
For ds's numero uno, back in my more commercalized days, we went with a Pooh theme. Bought Pooh invitations, napkins & plates, balloons in red & pooh-yellow, and frosted the cake with pooh-yellow & red with the words: "Hip hip POOH-RAY! [ds] is 1!"<br><br>
Other themes we've had are caterpillar/garden, snowman, Lunar New Year (the dragon cake for that one was fantastic, if I do say so myself) and last year, barnyard/Charlotte's Web, with a Wilbur cake.

well this is a little unconventional but-<br>
Due the fact my DD was born so close the christmas - like your child we just did a small family thing soooo in the summer when we can go outdoors she will have a un-birthday party. So she gets alittle excittment twice a year as opposed to two day clumped together.
