Dh and I live in New York City (my hometown), but there is a real possibility we'll be moving to his hometown of Sheffield, or somewhere close by, in the next year or two. I love the area from what I've seen, but I worried I'll be lonely and won't fit in or make any friends. I'm mixed race (black/white) and not sure if that will make any difference there. I'm also fairly intellectual, really big on organic/natural living, deeply spiritual, and relaxed -- that is, I'm not formal or stuffy by any means. Are there similar kinds of moms in South Yorkshire? Not sure whether a breastfeeding eco-friendly organic biracial mama would get a warm welcome or be chased away. :)

I'm not in Sheffield any more but it's where I grew up. I'm pretty sure you'll find some like minded people but it may take a bit of looking.<br><br>
For kids activities check out the Woodcraft Folk (<a href="http://www.woodcraft.org.uk" target="_blank">www.woodcraft.org.uk</a>) I grew up going to groups and it;s where I learned a lot about environmental issues, organic food and stuff. Also it was good fun.<br><br>
Also have a look on netmums (<a href="http://www.netmums.com/" target="_blank">http://www.netmums.com/</a>) you will need to join in the Sheffield section but they are a good place to find mums groups, baby sitters, free events in the park. I use my local group a lot.
