Curious since so many people on MDC sew/knit/etc. And also because if down the line we do any swaps it would be great to know what talented mama-made items we could swap! I just loved doing swaps last time around.

Personally, I sell Stampin' Up! card-making and scrapbooking supplies from home, I am a big scrapbooker and make cards to sell on Etsy. I also make bibs and tag blankies as a team with my mother that I sell on Etsy and other places. Plus I'm a big gourmet cook (when I'm not wallowing in putrid morning sickness woes).

What creative stuff do you all do?

Sometimes I sell my soap. I used to sell diapers and covers that I made myself. Now I just make stuff for our family, but I'm not opposed to a swap.

Crafty/artsy stuff I do:
sew
knit
make soap (cold process)
pottery
draw/paint
cook

I sell camoflauge childrens clothing, both commercially(in stores) and at various shows.

It looks like I am about to "get big or go home" with things as I currently have enough work to keep me chained to my machine for the next 4 months.

I just got back from a show last night and met a wholesaler there and he said that he could keep me busy for the next year. I am also working on a contract with a promotional company making adult sized hoodies. Their first order is for 300. Frick!

Woohoo!
What do you think you're going to do?
I know I personally couldn't take on that big a project while my children are all so young. Do you have someone you could be partners with in your endeavor?

I have a hyena cart where I sell cloth diapers, longies, handmade toys, dyed yarn, or whatever else I have the urge to make at the moment.

i do a lot of crafts and projects, but the only thing i've sold is slings. i usually make them for friends, or friends of friends. so not too many, and i usually only charge for materials, so i'm not making much of a profit, so does that count? lol

i've been thinking about setting up an etsy account and selling some more craft items. hopefully soon. it would be nice to have a reason to help me be more productive. lol

i crochet a lot, and i've started knitting. i do a fair amount of sewing. i've been trying to get into making some waldorf type dolls. i've made a couple, but nothing big. i'm making one for my dd for christmas though, so we'll see how that turns out.

i used to do a lot of wood working, but i haven't had my saw in a while. i finally brought it to my house, but now it's cold and it sits in the back of my car. lol maybe in the spring i'll start making little wooden toys/puzzles again. i really enjoy working with wood.

I'm a WAHM with a home sewing business thats just expanded to baby items like cloth diapers and cloths and other items -- some friends just opened a small store so I've got my first retail customers.

I do lots of paper crafts that I'd love to actually make more money with, but the sewing has proven to be a better stream of income. Have done a couple small announcements/invitations jobs and look forward to get more at some point.

Also a great cook as well with crazy thoughts of small catering jobs now and then. Mostly, just volunteer catering at this point -- mostly cause I get tired of having food I don't like and so I volunteer to make it all.

I just love doing lots of different things, mostly, and hate getting trapped into just one.

I have my own little business- Enchanted Dandelions. I sell mostly on Etsy... Loopy Loveys, bibs, burp cloths, rag quilts, as well as felt play food.

It's been tough because I have a TON of custom orders for the holidays, so I've been trying to muddle through them, when all I feel like doing is puking and hiding in bed. But, overall, sewing and selling is my own little piece of sanity. Something I do to focus on ME, for a change, since SOOO much of my time and energy goes towards the kids. Plus the extra money is nice as well! :

VeganF... what's your etsy name? It's so neat to cross-meet people from various parts of InternetLand!

Wow, Mamaterra! That's awesome... best of luck to ya!

I sell dyed diapers and clothes, just depends on what I'm in the mood to dye. Right now I'm knitting DD some longies with some yarn I dyed and I'm hoping to have enough left to make an itty bitty soaker!

Not sure because we have a tried and tested system that works for us. Efficient time management and I don't watch a lot of TV.

My three are 5, 4 and 1 and I work around them....meaning that whatever they need, I am at their disposal and when they get engrossed in a project, I do what I can.

As I homeschool, it usually means getting them going on a lesson and then overseeing their progress from my sewing machine (it is at the kitchen table where they do their lessons)

It means 5 minutes here, 15 minutes there, and then when my dh comes home then I can get some uninterrupted time.

PS. I also cater on weekends.

I don't do anything in particular to make money, although I've always wanted to set up a booth or something at a local festival. I usually just do stuff for DD or for friends. I like to make dresses for toddlers. I've also done some stuffed animals for DD but nothing like some things I've seen on Etsy. Man!I've never tried sewing dipes. Pretty much I know my way around a sewing machine and will try most anything.

I also do a bit of photography on the side. I'm by no means a pro, but friends appreciate having decent photos done for the cost of supplies.

My user name is disposableaardvarks: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5155763

I haven't listed anything in months, so what's there has mostly been there for a while. I've got a pile of stuff ready to list but no motivation to do it right now. Sigh.

Certain items always sell out immediately, but I like making a variety. I should get back to the things I know sell like hotcakes.

You guys are so talented! I work from home but not as a a "wahm" per se. I read and edit / proof transcripts. (Posts don't count for grammar or spelling I'm usually Nakking)

We should make a post with everyone's website for their wares and "pin" it... especially for all those needing tiny NB diapers soon. :)

Wow, so many WAHMs! And such cool things!!!!

I own this site www.heartfelted.com But, I just do wholesale to toy shops now, because I hate the post office. It's much easier to mail 1 package of 30 balls than 30 packages to 30 different people... that inevitably someone doesn't get theirs on time or decides they liked the green-blue picture online better now that they've already bought the purple one, can they exchange and can you give them a discount because it looks like there's one spot that's a lighter green? Oy. Wholesale is just much better for my level of sanity.

True, JuneBug.

Maybe we could do a swap towards the end... with either handmade crafty goodies, or other baby stuff?

A shower swap of some sorts?

Is it against the rules if we have agreed to it? I thought that rule was mostly to stop spammers.

In any case, I'm not very crafty but I do work from home. I run an online store selling birth supplies, home birth kits, breastfeeding stuff and later this month, I'm adding a bunch of organic/all natural mom and baby stuff (diaper creams, nipple creams, bamboo towels etc).

I have just started to sell patterns and instruction for making eye spy bags, nukkie holders, for babies and other fun crafts, I put the eye spy pattern up for auction on ebay last tuesday, but now one has bid or wonderd about it. My plan is to email the patterns to my customers after they buy them. Does anyone think that will work? I am so new with this internet stuff. I hope to get business, I have been sewing with my mother ever sence I was 5.
Now i am a single mother hoping to succeed in this home business.
If any one would like to make an order my email address is [email protected]
I am realy looking forward to hearing from someone and knowing if anyone is interested.
